Toro Rosso in no rush to replace Daniel Ricciardo

F1 Grand Prix of Australia - Qualifying

Franz Tost

Toro Rosso boss Franz Tost has said that the team is in no rush to make a decision on who will replace Daniel Ricciardo in 2014.

“We are very pleased to see Daniel make this move, which means he will follow in the footsteps of Sebastian Vettel. As to who will replace Daniel at Toro Rosso in 2014, we will now look at all our options and make a decision at a later date, as there is no immediate need to rush,” he said.

Ricciardo was announced as the successor of the retiring Mark Webber at Red Bull on Monday which has left the Toro Rosso in search of a new driver.

“Daniel’s move thus vindicates the work of the Red Bull Young Driver Programme and also proves that we at Toro Rosso have given him a good racing education,” Tost added.

Tost also insisted that Jean-Eric Vergne will be retained despite being overlooked by Red Bull.

According to reports, the highly-rated Felix Da Costa is rumoured to be the one to replace Ricciardo.
