The 2012 Italian grand prix will have two DRS zones, one on the main pit straight and the other from second Lesmo(turn 7) to the Ascari chicane.
Note: If you don’t know where ascari chicane and other corners are, you can read my article “Italian Grand Prix(Monza) Track guide“
The first DRS detection zone is 20 metres after Parabolica corner. Last year the detection zone was 40 metres after parabolica corner. The second DRS detection zone is 95 metres before turn 7(Second Lesmo).
There have also been changes to the Monza circuit. Last year the HRT of Vitantonio Liuzzi t-boned into the Mercedes and Renault of Nico Rosberg and Vitaly Petrov. So,the wall on driver’s right hand side at turn 1 has been moved closer to prevent the repeat of last year’s accident.
The track has also been resurfaced from the exit of ascari chicane to the exit of parabolica and the pit fence has been renewed.
The drivers steward for the Italian grand prix is Emanuele Pirro, a former Le-Mans race winner.
