Williams driver Valtteri Bottas will be racing at the Marina Bay Street Circuit for the first time in his career this weekend. The Finnish driver, who was a reserve driver for Williams last season, will be taking help from the team’s simulator to learn the circuit before using his FW35 from Friday.
Bottas said: “I’ve never driven at Singapore in a lower category and it was one of the tracks that I didn’t drive in Friday practice last year for Williams so this will be a new challenge that I’m really looking forward to.”
“I will be doing a lot of simulator work ahead of the Grand Prix to get used to the layout because it has a lot of corners that come in quick succession. I’m normally quite fast at learning new tracks though and showed in Montreal this year that I can quickly get up to speed,” he added.
Bottas, who is one of the five rookies this season, is yet to score a point. He earned his best finish of 11th place at the Malaysian Grand Prix.
