In 2005 at the German Grand Prix, Kimi Raikkonen, driving in a McLaren, had survived 20 laps while driving his car with a flat spotted tyre. Raikkonen had hoped to pull it through to the finish line, and on the very last lap of the race Raikkonen was leading Alonso by 1.5 seconds at the top, which was when his luck ran out.
Alonso was handed the victory after Kimi crashed out following a disastrous suspension failure which was caused by the vibrations produced from the flat spotted tyre. Tough luck Kimi!
