Another remarkable race strategy or just a simple case of overdriving? Rubens Barrichello first beat his team mate Button to Q3 and then on an almost perfect P1 lap, crashed into a wall. The accident in the final seconds of Q3 left Barrichello unhurt but his Brawn was damaged severely with its left tire hanging out.
Conspiracy Theory: Exclusive for Keedas
Since Rubens already has a 5 place grid penalty due to a gear boxchange, so he couldn’t anyways have finished on P1.
For Rubens, this 5 place penalty needs to be diluted via a better race strategy. And therefore, I am betting that he is on a very heavy fuel load…Probably highest in the top 10.
Now let me add all of it nicely-
The advantage that he gets with a deliberate crash is that he disrupts the cars P6-P10 in a final minute showdown and hence secures his 5th position on the grid. So, even with a 5 place penalty- he can qualify ahead of his team mate & title leader Button.
But this theory holds true only if Rubens is amongst the top 3 heavily fuelled cars in P1 to P10
Let’s wait for the pre race fuel loads to be published on F1.com and see if I can make a living as a bookie :)
