At the Bahrain International Circuit, Australian Mark Webber started his 200th Formula 1 race, a milestone which only a few drivers have crossed. Ferrari‘s Fernando Alonso reached the mark at the Malaysian Grand Prix.
The record for most races stands with Brazilian veteran, Rubens Barrichello. The ex-Ferrari and Brawn GP driver raced made an astonishing 326 grand prix starts.
“I’ll never reach it — absolutely no chance,” exclaimed Webber, at a program conducted by Red Bull’s own Servus TV in Austria.
“He drove over three hundred grands prix and was in Formula 1 for 17 years — a great career. But it’s a long time. The record will probably last forever. Definitely I can’t challenge it — I’d have to still be here another seven seasons!,” he added.
The Australian has linked with Porsche for their Le Mans first-tier series entry in 2014.
