Andrea Kimi Antonelli is an Italian racing driver who will compete in the FIA Formula One World Championship for Mercedes in the 2025 season. Born and brought up in Bologna, Antonelli joined and became a member of the Mercedes Junior Team in 2019. He is yet to make his debut in the 2025 season of Formula One but has already made his free practice debut in Formula One at the 2024 Italian Grand Prix, taking part in the first session in George Russell’s W15, setting the fastest lap. Antonelli participated in another free practice session at the Mexico City Grand Prix, finishing 12th after retiring from his session early due to sustained floor damage. In the FIA Formula 2 Championship, Antonelli had 28 entries, in which he won two races, gained three podiums, and secured four fastest laps, landing him in his best finish of sixth in 2024.

Antonelli won his first-ever title at the 2022 Italian F4 Championship with Prema Racing and has won the ADAC F4 Championship in 2022, and the Formula Regional European Championship in 2023, all with Prema Racing. He has also won the Formula Regional Middle East Championship in 2023 with Mumbai Falcons. Antonelli’s middle name is shared with Kimi Raikkonen, given by a family friend to Antonelli’s father. Moreover, he has the same car number - 12 - as his inspiration Ayrton Senna. Antonelli also participated in the post-season test at Yas Marina alongside George Russell and completed 62 laps, setting the fifth-fastest time overall. The 2025 season of Formula One will see Antonelli compete for Mercedes, replacing Lewis Hamilton. His debut in the series will be at the 2025 Australian Grand Prix, making him the first Italian driver to compete in Formula One after Antonio Giovinazzi in 2021.

Born on August 25, 2006, Antonelli started Kart racing at seven. He and his family reside in Bologna. Antonelli has competed in various disciplines of Kart racing in Italy and also attended a summer camp with the Automobile Club d’Italia in 2014 and was scouted by Giovanni Minardi. Antonelli participated in various major leagues and competitions in 2016, achieving top-three finishes in the Italian Cup and Trofeo delle Industrie, the WSK Super Master Series in 2017.
