The Pretoria Capitals (PC) and the Durban Super Giants (DSG) face off in the 5th match of the third edition of the SA20 on Sunday, January 12, at the SuperSport Park in Centurion.
The Capitals would be mighty disappointed after letting the reverse fixture slip right through their hands from a winning position after Gurbaz and Will Jacks' heroics with the bat. Meanwhile, Durban would want their bowling department to do a much better job, especially with the new ball, to contain the Pretoria openers and test their middle order.
This should be a feisty and entertaining encounter, and on that note, let's look at three differential picks on Dream11 from this fixture.
#3 Dwaine Pretorius (ALL) (DSG)
Dwaine Pretorius didn't have the best outing with the ball against the Pretoria Capitals on Friday, but he remains one of their most valuable assets. On a wicket that should assist seamers like no other, he's all but guaranteed to complete his full quota of overs, and he should operate in the powerplay and at the death, where there are the highest chances of him picking up wickets.
In 15 matches in the SA20, Pretorius has picked up 19 wickets at a decent bowling average of 22.8. He has also scored 127 runs with the bat, a handy contribution from him in the lower order.
While he isn't the most explosive Dream11 pick, Pretorius is an experienced and consistent performer who should tick along nicely throughout the season. He could be a useful differential for your teams.
#2 Rilee Rossouw (BAT) (PC)
The Pretoria Capitals' skipper and No.3 batter Rilee Rossouw would be disappointed by his team's complete batting collapse from the most easily winnable situations in their run chase against DSG in the reverse fixture. The southpaw didn't have a good outing, getting castled by Chris Woakes for 1.
However, his batting position and belligerent style make him a hard option to ignore ahead of this clash at what should be a belter of a wicket at SuperSport Park. Rossouw strikes at a solid 151.8 at this venue, and while consistency is an issue with him, he could deliver sizeable point hauls when he clicks.
While risky, Rilee Rossouw has the potential to be a powerful Dream11 differential.
#1 James Neesham (ALL) (PC)
James Neesham's Dream11 backers were unlucky not to register bigger hauls in the reverse fixture against DSG, especially with the Kiwi all-rounder bowling three overs and coming out to bat at his usual No.6 position, only to blank in both departments.
However, on a ground he's quite familiar playing in, and with the entire team baying for blood, expect Neesham to bring his A-game to this match. In eight T20s at this venue, he has scored 100 runs at a strike rate of 135.6, also picking up 12 wickets at a stellar bowling average of 13.8.
A complete all-rounder like him with minimal Dream11 ownership is very hard to find. He is a terrific differential pick and someone who you could even consider making the vice-captain of your team.
