The Paarl Royals (PR) take on the Sunrisers Eastern Cape (SEC) in the 3rd match of SA20 2025 on Saturday, January 11, at Boland Park in Paarl. It's the first match of a Saturday double-header, with the Joburg Super Kings (JSK) and MI Cape Town (MICT) locking horns at the Wanderers later in the day.

This is the first match of the season for a new-look Royals team, which finished 4th in both the previous editions of the SA20, making it to the playoffs on both occasions. They'll be led by David Miller, with Jos Buttler a notable absence in their squad this season.

Meanwhile, the defending champions SEC's bid to win a hat-trick of titles didn't get off to the best start as they received a drubbing at the hands of MICT in the tournament opener, losing by 97 runs after getting bowled out for a mere 77.

This promises to be an interesting contest, and on that note, let's look at a few differential picks who could haul big on Dream11.

#3 Sam Hain (BAT) (PR)

English batter Sam Hain was a smart acquisition for the Paarl Royals ahead of the auction. Likely to slot in at No. 4 for the Royals, this stellar run accumulator with solid technique and a great record across formats could well end up being the lynchpin of their batting lineup.

Hain averages 39.25 in T20s and is an experienced campaigner, scoring more than 4500 runs in 157 matches in the format, and has both the power and the class to negotiate the potentially tricky wickets through this tournament.

While it's unclear how this Paarl batting lineup will come together this season, Hain is a low-owned Dream11 gem who could power your team to a good points total in this fixture.

#2 Kwena Maphaka (BOWL) (PR)

Kwena Maphaka, 18, is making waves in the South African and world cricketing circuit for all the right reasons. Able to clock speeds in excess of 145 KPH with ease, the left-arm seamer has quickly made his debut in all three formats, and while he is still a bit raw, his explosive potential is there for everyone to see.

Maphaka is yet to make his debut in the SA20, but is sure to do so this season, leading their pace battery alongside Lungi Ngidi. His sheer pace and his ability to operate with the new ball make it very likely for him to pick up plenty of wickets this season.

If you're looking for an explosive but risky Dream11 differential for this clash, Maphaka is the right option.

#1 Tom Abell (BAT) (SEC)

Tom Abell is arguably one of the most underrated T20 batters in the world right now, and he has already proven to be an invaluable asset for the Sunrisers Eastern Cape. Likely to bat at No. 3 for them this season, Abell has loved batting in South African conditions, scoring 326 runs in 10 innings, averaging 46.6, and scoring at a strike rate of 153.8.

In his only innings at Boland Park, he played a blistering 46-run knock off just 28 balls in the Sunrisers' 44-run win over the Royals last season. Considering his batting position, solid record, and technical ability, he is a terrific Dream11 option.

While his duck in the first match against MICT may have caused Dream11 players to overlook him, he is a powerful pick for the entire tournament.
