Budapest, Feb 9 (IANS): Italian Valentina Cipriani defeated compatriot Alice Volpi 15-12 to win the final of the Women’s Foil World Cup here.
Also Saturday, Italian Arianna Errigo took the third place along with the only non-Italian in the top slots, Hyun Hee Nam of South Korea, reports Xinhua.
The greatest surprise was that six-time Olympic champion Valentina Vezzali of Italy was beaten by Hee Sook Jeon of South Korea 13-12 in the Round of 16.
Nearly 150 fencers from more than 20 countries and regions took part in the event.
