Ten players from Arsenal have been picked up for their respective national teams for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil.
From Germany, regulars Mesut Ozil (53 caps), Per Mertesacker (96 caps) and Lukas Podolski (112 caps) have been called up while only Santi Cazorla (61 caps) has made the cut into the 30-man squad announced by Spanish manager Vicente Del Bosque with the exclusion of left-back Nacho Monreal.
Striker Olivier Giroud (26 caps), centre-back Laurent Koscielny (15 caps) and right-back Bacary Sagna have been selected for France while Thomas Vermaelen (46 caps) is the only Belgian representative in the team.
Jack Wilshere (15 caps) and Oxlade-Chamberlain (14 caps) have been named by England manager Roy Hodgson too, despite their struggle with long-term injuries this season.
Following his inclusion, Wilshere tweeted: “Not many words I could use to describe the feeling of Pride me and my Family have right now. Dreamt about going to a World Cup. Representing my country but never thought it would actually happen, one thing it does prove is Dreams can come true! Absolutely buzzing.”
The players will be joining up their respective nations after the FA Cup final for their pre-tournament friendlies.
