Atletico Madrid were the nearly men of last season. Narrowly missing out on both the La Liga and Champions League titles, Diego Simeone’s men will be determined to challenge their more illustrious rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid all the way once again this season.
Atletico beat Barcelona in the race to sign Kevin Gameiro from Sevilla and the French striking duo of Kevin Gameiro and Antoine Griezmann are capable of causing problems to any defence. Antoine Griezmann was one of the standout players of last season with Arsene Wenger even suggesting that he deserved the Ballon d’Or award ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
Add to the mix, the pace of Yannick Ferreira Carrasco and Atletico have a front three capable of challenging the best in the world. Carrasco has really come into his own in the last few months and Simeone will be hoping that Carrasco and Griezmann combine well with new signing Gameiro.
