#3 Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint-Germain)
Football's new superstar, Kylian Mbappe's rise to the top has been rapid. The forward, alongside Erling Haaland, looks set to dominate the footballing landscape for the next decade.
A breakthrough 2016/17 season with AS Monaco saw Mbappe pique the interest of various top clubs. Paris Saint-Germain won the race, securing the France international's signing for a record £130.5 million. Mbappe has been sensational for the Parisiens since his debut.
The 22-year old has made 171 appearances across all competitions for Paris Saint-Germain, scoring 132 goals. An extremely quick forward with excellent dribbling, creativity and finishing ability, Mbappe has been linked with moves to Real Madrid and Liverpool recently.
#2 Lionel Messi (Barcelona)
Arguably the greatest player to have played the game, Lionel Messi continues to enthrall us all with his brilliant footballing abilities.
A one-club man, Messi is regarded as Barcelona's greatest ever. A dribbler, creator and goalscorer all rolled into one, the Argentina international has been Barcelona's most important player this century. It is hard to imagine the Camp Nou outfit winning a slew of trophies without Messi's involvement.
This season has been a disappointing one for Barcelona. They finished third in the league and there are doubts over the future of manager Ronald Koeman. Messi, who made 35 league appearances, scoring 30 goals and providing nine assists, could leave as well with his contract expiring in the summer.
#1 Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich)
Arguably the greatest striker of the modern generation, Robert Lewandowski seems to be getting better with age.
Bayern Munich's acquisition of Lewandowski on a free transfer in 2014 has to go down as one of the best transfers in the history of the sport. The Poland international has made 329 appearances in all competitions for the Bavarians, scoring an astounding 294 goals. He was Bayern Munich's best player when they won the treble last season.
The 32-year old made 29 Bundesliga appearances this season, scoring 41 goals. Lewandowski broke Gerd Muller's long-standing record of scoring the most goals in a single Bundesliga season. He was awarded the European Golden Shoe for the 2020/21 season.
