#3 Ben Foster - 8
Ben Foster was touted as the next big thing in the Premier League when he arrived at Manchester United in 2007-08.
A decade and a half later, it can be safely surmised that Foster has largely failed to live up to that hype. Nevertheless, the Watford goalkeeper has had a fairly decent Premier League stint, keeping 83 clean sheets in 369 appearances for four different clubs.
Not to mention, Foster has also carved a reputation as a decent penalty-saver. Most of his penalty saves in the Premier League came during his stint with West Bromwich Albion.
The 38-year-old's last penalty save in the Premier League came against Manchester City's Raheem Sterling in the 2019-20 season.
#2 Robert Green - 9
Robert Green had a middling Premier League career at best. He made over 250 appearances in the competition for four different clubs and kept 53 clean sheets.
Green, though, is one of the most successful penalty-stoppers in the history of the English top flight. He is one of just two goalkeepers to save nine penalties in the Premier League.
The 41-year-old has denied the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Alexis Sanchez and Steven Gerrard (twice) from the spot in the Premier League. In fact, his last penalty save in the competition was off Gerard in 2014-15, when he was playing for Queens Park Rangers.
#1 Heurelho Gomes - 9
Heurelho Gomes made nearly 200 appearances in the Premier League for two different clubs, spread almost equally between Tottenham Hotspur and Watford.
The Brazilian, who has kept over 50 Premier League clean sheets, is one of only two custodians in league history to keep out nine penalties. Gomes, in fact, is the first goalkeeper in the Premier League to save multiple penalties in at least two games.
He did so for Spurs against Sunderland in 2009-10, before repeating the feat with Watford against West Bromwich Albion in 2015-16. On both occasions, he denied the same penalty-taker twice - Darren Bent (Sunderland) and Saido Berahino (West Bromwich Albion).
In fact, Gomes has denied Bent thrice from the spot in the Premier League. The Brazilian's last penalty save in the competition came against Crystal Palace's Christian Benteke in the 2015-16 season.
