#5 Kaka – €65m
Ricardo Kaka had made a name for himself at the San Siro stadium, and Florentino Perez had taken note. In June 2009, Real Madrid announced that a deal had been reached with AC Milan and that the Brazilian would join the Spaniards on a six-year deal. Unfortunately, Kaka failed to live up to his price tag due to various reasons, injuries being one of the main factors.
Having spent almost an entire season on the sidelines, Madrid brought in Mesut Ozil as back-up for the Brazilian. Owing to his superb performances, the German eventually replaced Kaka as the first choice midfielder. After spending four seasons at the club, Kaka chose to leave the Santiago Bernabeu in order to make a return to the San Siro.
In 120 appearances the midfield maestro scored 29 goals and provided 32 assists for his teammates. In his time with Los Blancos, they won three titles - La Liga, the Copa Del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup.
