Bayern Munich defeated Arsenal as if they

were

playing against a low-level Bundesliga team.

Arsenal went into the tie as the second favourites and it seemed very obvious that there Round of 16 hoodoos would continue. But the way in which they were literally crumbled by the Bavarian giants still gives nightmares to the Arsenal faithful.

Bayern Munich opened the scoring through a trademark Arjen Robben cutting inside and finding the right-hand side top corner. Arsenal responded well and went on level terms at half-time through an Alexis Sanchez goal.

But Germany's most successful club showed their class and they tormented the Gunners defense with four goals in the second half with one each from Lewandoski and Muller while Thiago hit a brace.

Though Arsenal were always the underdogs in this tie but the way they lost 5-1 would not have been acceptable at any top-level European club. Bayern defeated the Arsenal as if they were playing against a low-level Bundesliga team.
