Mario Gotze arrived at Bayern Munich in a controversial transfer from one of their biggest rivals Borussia Dortmund in 2013 and big things were expected of the German.

The star of the 2014 World Cup final had a harsh time in Bavaria as he struggled for fitness. Constant injuries meant that he could never really break into the first-team.

The 25-year-old failed to live up to the hype and was shipped back to Dortmund in 2016. One can only imagine what could have been had the talented German settled at the Allianz Arena.
