Football in modern times is running at break-neck speed. The interest in the game has grown tremendously when it looked seemingly impossible.
This has resulted in clubs trying to stay on top of things and look to increase the depth in their sides, particularly the big clubs as they challenge for silverware on multiple fronts in a season.
As beneficial as that may be for the managements, the increased competition to cement a place in the startling line-ups does hamper the development of some potentially world class players.
As a matter of fact, despite certain players already deemed world-class most fail to further their progress for a variety of reasons. Another factor is the lack of ambition in clubs who already have these top quality players in their ranks. This results in players missing out on important aspects of their growth, such as playing against the top clubs in Europe for instance.
This list similarly lists players who are world-class and have struggled to meet expectations for several reasons, chief among which is the inability to harbour a successful, mutually or proportionately beneficial relationship with the clubs they currently are contracted by.
#10 Mohamed Salah
The panel was spilt on whether the Egyptian will be better suited to a move up from Liverpool. While half of us concluded that the form that Salah is currently enjoying is due to a number of factors like Klopp's influence and the style of play suiting to his strengths.
Others felt that the Liverpool man has proved his quality beyond any reasonable doubt and that a move to a top European powerhouse (read Real Madrid) is beckoning.
That is hard to argue with, considering that the winger is the leading goal-scorer in England and could also bag the Golden Shoe for all of Europe.
What a revelation he has been this season!

#9 Harry Kane
Arguably the best striker in English football, Harry Kane has been a major inspiration for the world of football. A local lad reaching the pinnacle of the game with his hometown club.
Sadly, the world as it is now, has little place for such romanticism and therefore we all know it deep in our hearts that a move for the Englishman is just a matter of when and not if.
Top scorer in the last two seasons, Kane raced through to the top of the leaderboard in the Premier League, but then an injury against Bournemouth has halted his progress and allowed Mohamed Salah to open up a lead.
Irrespective of that fact, Kane has now proved his worth time and again and is decidedly a world-class striker.
With Madrid growing increasingly frustrated with their own striker, Karim Benzema, and despite rumours of Madrid killing interest in the Harry Kane, we don't see how this isn't a match made in footballing heaven.

#8 Sergio Aguero
Aguero, despite his unbelievable talent, has somehow failed to completely win over his manager. Pep's complete trust is certainly not with the striker and this is no longer a surprise, with the Spaniard regularly claiming that City need to strengthen their attacking options further.
Last season, the Argentine's departure seemed almost certain but Guardiola persisted with the striker and it has paid off for City with the League title now just a matter of formality.
If you take into consideration the ways that the City manager operates in, he rarely doesn't see one of his convictions through and if he does stick around in Manchester, it wouldn't surprise us to see some new kid arrive at the Etihad.
This begs the questions, does Aguero really deserve the high-handed snub that he regularly is in for with his manager?
We certainly don't think so, and therefore it is in the Argentine's best interest that he moves on, with only a couple more years at the top level left in the tank for him.
Any side would be lucky to have him and treat him with the respect he deserves rather than be ushered into the wings by some wanna-be hipsters who are more involved with clicking selfies than scoring goals.

#7 Alexis Sanchez
The Chilean has failed to live upto the much anticipated success that was almost guaranteed - owing to the quality he possesses and the work-rate to match that ability - after moving to Old Trafford
However, Sanchez has failed to live upto the billing in the red for Manchester United and is now being analysed with degrading parameters such as the number of times he has lost the ball this season. That number is higher than the total for some teams in certain instances.
So it is hard to fight back against that sort of criticism with the numbers heavily against you.
But what the Chilean has failed to accompany that number with is the certainty of goals and chances created - which is why such negative stats are getting highlighted.
Sanchez is now part of a selection dilemma for Jose Mourinho as he has failed to get the best out of both Sanchez and Pogba ever since the Chilean joined the Frenchman in the squad.
This has also adversely affected the development of the likes of Martial, Lingard and Rashford how are forced to keep switching positions to accommodate both the marquee players.
Sanchez seems terribly out of place in the United set-up and should maybe consider a move back to either London or Spain - with his beloved Barcelona with Neymar leaving a gaping hole in the left-side of the attack.
A much more accomplished Sanchez, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi; not the worst attacking trip in the world that is it?

#6 Mesut Ozil
One of the best in his positions, Mesut Ozil put in one of his most memorable performances of the season in the 4-1 Europa League win over CSKA Moscow.
The German recently reached a milestone that sees him sit pretty above the likes of Cantona, Henry, Bergkamp, Fabregas, David Silva and David Beckham as he became the quickest to reach 50 assists in the Premier League's history.
A player of his calibre deserves to play in the biggest competiton in Europe and Arsenal seem out of touch with the requirements to achieve that level of success.
An undeniable talent, Ozil has often come under fire for reserving all his passion for the national side and just calling-in the matches for his London club.
If that is indeed the case, we feel it will benefit both parties if the German can find abode elsewhere, somewhere he is preferably more invested in, as the Gunners can look to make some cash off the playmaker and try to avoid a similar situation to the one with Alexis Sanchez.

#5 Isco
The Spaniard grabbed the world's attention by churning out stellar performance for Malaga and the Spanish junior national side. Zinedine ZIdance was then only working his way up the Real Madrid food chain and was instrumental in bringing Isco to the Bernabeu.
The offensive midfielder, despite having several options on the table, chose the Spanish capital as his new destination but has since failed to really make a starting spot his own, first with Ancelotti and then Rafa Benetiz and seems that his luck is set to continue despite Zidane himself taking over as manager.
The Spaniard however, showed his class in the 6-1 drubbing of Argentina by Spain in the recent international fixtures.
Following which, Isco took a swipe at the Madrid manager for the lack of playing time he has seen under the Frenchman as reports of Manchester City and Pep Guardiola plotting a move for him do the rounds.
With the relations souring with the club, we feel it might do both parties good if Isco were to find a move away from Bernabeu.

#4 Paul Pobga
Recently in the eye of the storm, the Frenchman came up trumps in the Manchester derby, single-handedly masterminding a 2-3 come-back victory for the Red Devils.
However, despite his performance on the night, the midfielder has had one of his most inconsequential seasons at the top level ever since he broke onto the scene with Juventus.
After repeated skirmishes with the Portuguese, Pogba has fallen out with his manager since the turn of the year which is incidentally around the same time a certain Chilean walked into the team and stole some of the spotlight.
Add to the mix an agent who is always on the lookout for moves for his superstars and thereby make a profit for himself, and you have a situation that is ripe for the United's record signing to look for his dream move to Madrid.

#3 Gareth Bale
One of the biggest enigmas of the modern game is the mercurial talent who goes by the name of Gareth Bale. Having burst onto the scene first with the Saints and then Spurs, the buccaneering left-back turned offensive winger has undoubtedly failed to live upto expectations of the Madrid press as well as the fans.
If questions are still being raised over him reaching his potential at the most decorated club in the world, it is fair to assume that his move has been far from the raging success everyone, in Britain especially, had hoped it would be.
After his record=breaking move to Madrid, the Welshman has failed to impress as those who came into the side after his arrival have gone on to taste more success and consistency for Los Blancos. Marco Asensio or Lucas Vazquez for instance.
The winger is better suited to a league which is more open-ended as is the case with England. Whereas for Madrid, Bale is generally faced with the task of breaking down the defence with all men sitting deep in their own half. This takes away the Welshman's major attribute, i.e., pace.
Rumour of a return to England with Manchester United have become the norm these days and we're certain that it is time that Bale packed his bags and looked to start afresh.

#2 Eden Hazard
Eden Hazard is arguably the most exciting talent in the Premier League and Chelsea Football Club are extremely lucky to have the Belgian in their side.
The attacking-minded player is regularly recounted in the top 5 plays in the world apart from the two best in the world, and apart from those two few players currently playing the game can claim to be better at it that Hazard.
Aptly named, the Chelsea man is one of the few players to have exceeded expectations after joining the English game. However, despite a relatively successful career with the Blues -which includes 2 Premier League winners medals, a league and an FA Cup each and also the Europa League - the Belgian is still to win the medal he is most keen on - the Champions League.
Having joined the club after their triumph in 2012, it seems unlikely that the Londoners are about to challenge for the crown anytime soon as Antonio Conte has hinted at funds drying up at the club funded by the bllionare Russian oligarch.
With Chelsea struggling to even hold onto a top 4 spot in the Premier League, the Belgian looks set to miss out on European football next season, with the medal an even more distant possibility.

In such a situation, we wonder how long Eden will keep his patience, specially with Madrid seemingly interested.
#1 Neymar Jr.
The hottest transfer saga of the summer was undeniably the one involving th Brazilian which ended with his shock move to Paris.
The footballing world was left aghast as Neymar left the Camp Nou and joined PSG for a record transfer fee of over £200 million, considering he was now going to be lining-up against decidedly much-weaker opposition.
The standard of football in France is the lowest compared to the other 4 leagues in the top 5 of Europe. The level of competition is much lower as compared to either Spain or England.
Skeptics will say that the Brazilian has proved that his move to Paris was the correct one as he is now scoring goals for fun and has lit up numerous nights in Paris, but for a player billed as the greatest of his generation is it really enough?
A rude awakening at the hands of Real Madrid in the Champions League, as PSG crashed out once again, was only an indicator of still how much ground the champions of France have to cover compared to the other big boys in Europe.
How then is Neymar Jr. going to win the ballon d'Or without lifting the Champions League?
He won't. Therefore a move back to the top level must be a priority for the former Barcelona man with bitter rivals Real Madrid already laying the groundwork for Neymar's arrival.
