Shane Aranha, a 12-year-old Mumbai boy has recently come into limelight after he became the first player from the Maharashtrian capital to get a chance to train at the Boca Football Academy in Argentina in the latter part of 2016.
The youngster from Mumbai had reportedly risen up the ranks during the inaugural edition of The Football Championship League organised by The Sports Gurukul in association with Boca Juniors Football School which took place in December 2015.
Aranha was labeled as ‘the most promising and outstanding’ out of all the 29 children that were shortlisted to train in Argentina later this year. The Boca Football Academy has previously developed a number of great footballers, including the Argentine legend, Diego Maradona and more recently Carlos Tevez.
The seventh standard student of St Mary's High School, Mazagon was obviously ecstatic after he stumbled across the news.
In a recent interview, the Mumbai prodigy told the press, “I am very excited and looking forward to going to Argentina. It is going to be one of the best experiences in my life and I am very happy. I thank The Sports Gurukul and Boca Football School, for giving me this opportunity to train with them and I am certain that it would greatly help me to improve my skills and game.”
On this very topic, Jay Shah, the Co-Founder and Director of The Sports Gurukul said, “This is the most exciting times for us. We are very proud that our mission for football has started on a good note and Shane being the first talent from Mumbai and we will be scouting for many more.”
Antonio Lopez-Cortes, the Head coach of Boca Football Schools, Mumbai also shared his thoughts with the reporters.
“It was a really tough decision. There are so many young talented children that I have seen and I am really excited to groom these children during my stay in India. I congratulate Shane on this achievement and wish him all the best,” he told them.
Club Atletico Boca Juniors or simply, Boca Juniors is the most successful Argentine teams and is based in the La Boca neighbourhood of the capital, Buenos Aires. They are the current defending champions of the Argentine Premiere Division and have won the Argentine national league 31 times along with 12 domestic cups.
