2. Paul Scholes (11 Premier League titles with Manchester United):
Paul Scholes was yet another part of the great United side under Sir Alex and also that vaunted midfield. He remains one of the finest central midfielders of his generation. Scholes’ passing, through balls and shooting accuracy were legendary and he also spent 19 very successful seasons at United after graduating from their academy in 1992. He also won 11 Premier League and 2 UEFA Champions League titles. Scholes usually pulled the strings from the middle third and was quite possibly one of the top three passers of his generation.
'Scholesy', as he was fondly called by his teammates and the club’s supporters, was also very down-to-earth and preferred to keep a low profile off the field. His exploits on the field, however, were enough to set him apart even among the luminaries of the great United team of the 1990s and 2000s. Scholes played in 718 matches for United and scored 155 goals. He also provided numerous assists to the likes of Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo and Ruud Van Nistelrooy. He hung up his boots in 2013 and is pursuing a media career these days.
Honorable mention: Lionel Messi (9 La Liga titles with FC Barcelona)
