#2 Senegal’s march for glory continues
For all the pedigree and reputation Senegal has on the African continent, it is rather surprising that the West African nation is yet to win the Africa Cup of Nations, with their best run being their runners up finish to Cameroon at Mali 2002 when current coach Alou Cisse was still captain of the side.
This is an anomaly, to say the least, and it is one record the Teranga Lions would be desperate to correct.
Senegal is currently ranked 22nd in the world, making them the highest ranked teams on the continent and with players like Kalidou Koulibaly, Sadio Mane, Cheikhou Kouyate, Ibrahim Sarr, Idrissa Gueye but to name a few, they have word beaters who can hold their own anywhere on the planet.
Their victory over Uganda means they are through to the last eight (which is the same stage they got eliminated last time out) and with the calibre of players within their ranks, there is no reason why Senegal cannot go all the way to glory in Egypt.
