#1 Turkey at 2002
Turkey was one of the most unexpected teams to reach the semi-finals along with South Korea in 2002. Now the reason South Korea haven't been included is the controversial refereeing that took place in their games, and it doesn't seem fair to include them on this list.
Turkey, however, returned from the tournament as national heroes. Their group included Brazil but other than that, it wasn't very tough but they just about scraped through in second.
In the round of 16, they knocked out the co-hosts Japan via a solitary goal. In the quarters, they were up against a strong Senegal side that had come through a group featuring France and Uruguay.
However, the Turkish defence was resolute. Turkey finally found a way past Senegal when Ilhan Manziz hooked the ball past Tony Sylva in the Senegalese net scoring a golden goal and sending the Turkish fans wild.
Their run was however halted by eventual winners Brazil. Having said that, it wasn't like they did not have chances but they eventually succumbed to a Ronaldo goal. Since then, they have only qualified for the Euros in 2008 but the heroes of 2002 are still remembered in Turkey.

Honourable Mentions- Sweden in 1994, Uruguay in 2010 and Poland in 1982
This time we will also see an underdog make the semi-final, maybe they can go past the semi-final and win it all. Who knows? It's football after all.
