Ever since his arrival at the Stamford Bridge, Drinkwater made a total of 12 PL appearances in the last season and is yet to make his first appearance in the ongoing season. The former Leicester midfielder was one of the main reasons why the Foxes secured the Premier League title in the 2015/16 season, a feat that is considered as a 'miracle'. With Mateo Kovacic and Ross Barkley being the main personalities in the midfield, along with Ruben Loftus-Cheek as a backup, Drinkwater's time is only becoming limited with the Blues.
There is however no denying that he is a top-quality midfielder who needs more opportunities in order to prove his worth. With just one appearance in the community league this season, it is time for him to leave in order to find more regularity and consistency as a footballer. Just like Fabregas, Drinkwater is slowly fading from the eyes of the Chelsea supporters.
