Deadline day marks the final day of a transfer window and is considered as one of the most exciting days of the season. Most of the teams are involved in buying and selling players on this day as they would only get an opportunity to tinker with their squad a few months later. Hence, there is a lot of activity on the deadline day which could decide the outcome of a season for a team.
Although the deadline day of the January transfer window sees fewer transfers happening, this particular year, we could see a number of high profile transfers happening on Thursday. A flurry of loan deals are expected to occur and a number of big clubs could make final-minute changes to their squad.
On that note, here is the list of three transfers which could happen by the end of the ongoing transfer window.
Callum Hudson-Odoi to Bayern Munich
Callum Hudson-Odoi has been one name who has constantly been in the transfer news this month. The 18-year-old is unhappy at Chelsea due to lack of game time and wants a move away from the Blues.
As reported in the British press, Bayern Munich has noticed his talent and is ready to splash £40 million for the youngster. Bayern is set to lose Arjen Robben at the end of the season and they have identified Hudson-Odoi as a target. However, Chelsea is reluctant to let go of the teenager despite Hudson-Odoi himself handing over a transfer request.
Despite Maurizio Sarri's decision to keep the player, the board's resolution could become weak with Bayern's tempting offer. Yes, Hudson-Odoi has shown his potential but has still not proved himself on the biggest stage. Cashing in on a player at this stage of his career could lead to a deadline day signing for Bayern.
Denis Suarez to Arsenal
Denis Suarez has been linked with a move to Arsenal since December and according to reports from the British media outlets, the youngster could be loaned out to the Gunners on the deadline day. Barcelona has already made a couple of signings this month and it would further reduce Suarez's game time with the Catalans.
Arsenal has a misfiring attack with the futures of Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil unsure at the club. Hence, Denis Suarez could get an opportunity to showcase his talent in England and hence, could be tempted with a move to the London club.
Gary Cahill to Crystal Palace
The Veteran English defender has been short of game time at Chelsea following the success of the Antonio Rudiger-David Luiz partnership at the back this season. Hence, Gary Cahill has fallen out of favour with Sarri and his future at the club does not seem certain.
Hence, for improved game time, the defender could be moving away from Chelsea. According to the British media, Crystal Palace is the frontrunner to sign him. Although it could be a loan deal, Cahill's stint at Crystal Palace would be dependent on the performance of Chelsea defenders in the second half of the season.
