#1 Italy vs France 2006 FIFA World Cup
This FIFA World Cup was the 18th FIFA World Cup edition, which was hosted by Germany. The final was played between Italy and France at the Olympiastadion, Berlin.
French legend, Zinedine Zidane scored the opening goal for his side by converting the seventh-minute penalty kick and at the end of the 19th minute, Italian defender Marco Materazzi scored the equalizer and the levelled the score by 1-1.
The game ended in a draw 1-1 after the extra time and eventually Italy won their 4th World Cup title by defeating France 5-3 in the penalty shootout. It was the second World Cup final to be decided on penalties and it was also the 20th penalty shootout in FIFA World Cup history.
