#2 He must be more influential in Europe
Aside from adding goals to his game, another key thing that could help Eden Hazard realize his Ballon d’Or dream is if he can be more influential in Europe. Unfortunately, Chelsea is currently playing in the Europa League and that negates the Belgian’s chances of scooping the prestigious individual award.
There is no doubt that the most influential players in the Champions League become favorites for the Ballon d’Or. Ronaldo has won the two editions of the award because he was influential in the competition and emerged top scorer on both occasions.
For Hazard to be considered on that same level, he needs to showcase his brilliance on those European nights. It is good to dominate in the Premier League, but to be the best in the world he will need to do it in Europe too.
Since the Belgian moved to Chelsea, he has been influential in the Premier League, and is undoubtedly the topflight’s best player at the moment. But that is not enough, he must be more consistent and more influential in Europe to make himself a Ballon d’Or contender.
