3 left wingers who would convert make Arsenal serious title contenders

Lukas Podolski has been hit by injury for almost all the games up until now as the German International is slowly recovering from the sidelines and have started training recently. While Arsenal have Theo Walcott on the right deployed as the right winger, they don’t particularly have a player who can be called as a left sided winger. While Podolski can operate down the left flank, he is not entirely comfortable with that and so is Santi Cazorla, a testament to which is the Spaniard’s below par performances this season.

So here are three players who would be comfortable playing down the left flank and would be quite effective as well for Arsene Wenger to look into.

Dusan Tadic

Perhaps the least-known player on this list, the Serbian international has been sensational for FC Twente. Chadli recently starred for Twente and used his performances in the Netherlands as a platform to earn him a transfer to English giants Tottenham, and it’s only a matter of time before Tadic does the same. Twente struggled last season, finishing in sixth, but Tadic shouldered a huge offensive load and performed admirably, netting 12 goals and assisting on another 15. Arsenal certainly haven’t struggled to score this season, as Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey, Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud have all shown they can hit the back of the net when given the chances. Though more goals certainly wouldn’t hurt, as we seen in the Gunners recent 6-3 loss to Manchester City.

Hatem Ben Arfa

Newcastle winger Hatem Ben Arfa is one of the Premier League’s better widemen and has attracted interest from a few of the Premier League’s larger clubs, mainly Liverpool, but Arsenal should be considering the former Marseille man also. He has pace, skill and a decent passing ability, basically what Arsene Wenger looks for in his players. Ben Arfa is a little selfish, which could put the North London club off, but one of the Premier League’s better and more experienced wingers could be available at around €13.5 m, and that may be too good for Wenger to turn down.

Andre Ayew

Much of the Ligue 1 focus is directed at the free-spending duo of PSG and Monaco, but it was Marseille who topped the table for the early part of the season, before losing their fourth fixture, and subsequently first place, to Monaco. Ayew has been a remarkably consistent performer since joining the French outfit in 2010, scoring 42 goals and providing 13 assists in 139 matches. He isn’t the playmaker that others on this list are, but Ayew is a bonafide goal threat, who, alongside Dimitri Payet, Mathieu Valbuena and Andre-Pierre Gignac, make Marseille legitimate title contenders. Ayew’s pace and eye for goal would add more to the Arsenal front line and could see him become the world star he is seemingly destined to be. Also deployed as a striker, versatility can be the most important string to a player’s bow.
