One of the reasons for Manchester United's decline last season was the deplorable defense that let in 54 goals in the Premier League alone.
It was clear that United needed defensive reinforcements in the summer, but the club's attempts at securing a world class defender has been largely unsuccessful so far. After failing to convince Matthijs de Ligt and Kalidou Koulibaly to make the move, United have set their sights on Leicester City defender Harry Maguire.

The club already has seen two bids rejected, with Leicester City seeking a world-class fee for the defender. The Englishman is reportedly interested in the move and frustrated by the slow pace of proceedings.
Solskjaer wants Maguire to partner Victor Lindelof at the heart of the United defense, a pairing he believes is good enough to get the Red Devils back to their glory days.
Manchester United are very eager to add Maguire to their squad, with the transfer fee the only hurdle in this deal. However, there's still every chance that both clubs could arrive at an agreeable price for the defender in the coming days.

Inspired by Diego Maradona, Deepungsu played as an attacking midfielder for his local club at subdivision level in his initial years and scored an important goal or two. However, his all-time favorite footballer is Lionel Messi, and evidently, he feels Argentina's glory in 2022 is his favorite FIFA World Cup moment for fulfilling his long-standing dream. He is also an ardent East Bengal fan.
Deepungsu has been a Manchester United supporter since the year 2000. Unsurprisingly, his favorite manager is Sir Alex Ferguson and the Scotsman helped him get through some of the toughest days of his life. Like the fiery Scot, Deepungsu also leaves no stone unturned when it comes to accuracy in articles and only relies on credible sources.
Despite believing in Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland to create an iconic rivalry, Deepungsu reckons no one can match the longevity of Messi and Ronaldo. He spends his leisure time writing about life on his blog, reading books, and playing the guitar.
