#2 Houssem Aouar
Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar is currently among the best young midfielders in the world and could be a perfect replacement for Gini Wijnaldum at Liverpool.
The 22-year old is a highly technical player who possesses excellent passing and dribbling skills. He can inject creativity into Liverpool's midfield and his ability to find space in tight situations will also help the Reds break low blocks.
Aouar has played 120 league games since breaking into Lyon's first team during the 2016-17 season, scoring 21 goals in the process. He has contributed 5 goals and 3 assists in 23 Ligue 1 games thus far this season.
However, the France international has been linked with a number of top European clubs in recent months and the Reds might have to pay a hefty sum to bring him to Anfield.
#1 Yves Bissouma
Yves Bissouma has been in brilliant form for Brighton and Hove Albion FC in the Premier League this season and is reportedly among the leading candidates to replace Wijnaldum at Anfield.
Mostly deployed as a box-to-box midfielder by Graham Potter, Bissouma is heavily involved in Brighton's build-up play. The 24-year old has completed 1165 passes in the league this season, with an accuracy of 86.3 per cent. The 24-year old will also bring in defensive steel in Liverpool's midfield as he has won more tackles (68) than every Reds player in the league this campaign. He doesn't shy away from shooting from distance either, with all four of his Seagulls career goals thus far having come from outside the box.
His current contract with Brighton expires in 2023 and the East Sussex-based club might be forced to sell him on a cut price deal if they fail to avoid relegation this season.
