3 players Manchester United should sell and who they should target to replace them

Jose Mourinho was sacked on December 18th 2018 after a horrid start to the season. While many point the finger at Jose, its undeniable that underperforming players had a major part to play. While many of those have discovered form and purpose under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer there are players who haven't seen their fortunes change as much.

With former Manchester United captain Roy Keane bluntly stating that "players got away with murder", there are many who feel Jose was hard done by the players rather than the other way around.

While some live to fight another day, there are some whose time is running out.

Here are 3 players who needs to go and who should replace them:

MAROUANE FELLAINI TO BE REPLACED BY ABDOULAYE DOUCOURE:

The Belgian midfielder has long been the go to 'option B' for Jose. Relying on his frame and towering height to receive the ball upfront. While it has worked a few times , it is not what Manchester United is about.

To many, he epitomises what United have become since Sir Alex left. Now with the 31 year old Belgian finding hard to get minutes under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, it may finally be time to move on.

Replacing him should be the all action Frenchman Abdoulaye Doucouré. He has shown what he can do this season racking up 3 goals and 5 assists already from midfield. His work rate is the most impressive aspect of his game.

His willingness to run and ability to link defence to offence is key. He is yet to reach his peak years being just 26 years old and with Paul Pogba taking up offensive duties more than ever, Doucouré should be a great option.

MARCOS ROJO TO BE REPLACED BY STEFAN SAVIC:

On August 2014 Marcos Rojo signed for Manchester United after enjoying a strong World cup for Argentina. Louis van Gaal was more interested in his versatility and potential. His form has been fluctuating for much of his time at Manchester united.

He enjoyed a strong partnership with Phil Jones last season but he now finds himself as the fifth choice center back. Something has to change for the Argentinian , and that might as well be his club.

Stefan Savic has been a rock at the back for Atletico Madrid since his arrival in 2015. He has been instrumental in his club's recent success. A proper defender who excels at getting the job done.

United has signed their share of young promising defenders in Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof. They need a leader to organize the defence, Stefan Savic might fill that void in leadership.

ALEXIS SANCHEZ TO BE REPLACED BY IVAN PERISIC:

Alexis Sanchez scored 80 goals in 166 appearances for Arsenal FC. A season and half later he has scored a mere 4 goals in 32 games. One of those being from the penalty spot . He looks like a shadow of his formal self. On paper he was perfect for Jose Mourinho but he could neither score, nor impact games like he used to at Arsenal FC. For someone who earns more than £400,000 per week. That is just not good enough.

Jose Mourinho was keen on signing Ivan Perisic and its apparent why. Being at his prime, he can be the guiding light to the likes of Antony Martial and the emerging Tahith Chong. He proved his worth at the World Cup 2018, scoring 3 goals, which included a Man of the match performance in the semi-finals against England.

He has been a constant threat on the left for Inter Milan scoring 8 goals and assisting 4 in 40 matches. He averages 2.86 shots per game. Comfortable crossing with either foot or cutting in, he can be a real asset for the Red devils.
