#2 Phil Jones
The England international Phil Jones is one of several defenders who have had a shambolic season. To be fair though, he has been average for a few seasons.
Jones is one of the players who survived the chop because of longevity. He is one of just three players who lifted the Premier League title under Sir Alex Ferguson.
Jones is a fringe player and Solskjaer should not be afraid to sell him before reinforcing his defensive line-up. His form has dipped and that represents United's defensive strength as a whole.
Jones should be worth at least 10-15 million pounds in the market. There are younger and more powerful defenders in the market who can be bought at that price, and who can be molded to United's philosophy.
A typical Manchester United centre back should be a leader, commanding in the air and equipped with the ability to read the game. Jones quite simply does not cut it in any of those aspects.
