#1 Manchester United
Manchester United's failure to replace Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini in the summer has left them extremely short of options in midfield this term. The lack of depth in the middle of the park was evident when injuries to Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic at the start of the season left Ole Gunnar Solskjaer short of options, so bolstering the midfield must be the priority for the Norwegian ahead of the January transfer window.
Their resources in midfield might also further deplete if Matic decides to leave the club next month. The 31-year-old has fallen down the pecking order since the emergence of Scott McTominay and Fred this season and could be on the move to seek regular game time.
A move for Emre Can in the upcoming transfer window would be a sensible piece of business for the Red Devils, as the former Liverpool man can play across several positions in midfield and will bring versatility to United's engine room. Moreover, the German is already accustomed to the pace and physicality of the Premier League, which means he won't take much time to settle at the club.
