Real Madrid are struggling this season and are currently fourth on the Liga table, five points behind the leaders, Barcelona. Los Blancos struggled to get going under their ex-manager Julen Lopetegui, and are now struggling to fire in the management of Santiago Solari as well.

The Madrid-based team scored 23 goals in the opening 15 La Liga games this season and conceded 19 goals during that period. There are a number of issues in the team that Madrid needs to iron at the soonest and the upcoming January transfer will provide them with the opportunity to fix them.

Here is the list of three problems Real Madrid needs to fix during the January transfer window.

#3 Sign a new centre-back

Real Madrid are struggling defensively this season and conceded 19 goals in the opening 15 La Liga matches. Sergio Ramos started declining with age, and Raphaël Varane and Nacho Fernandez are playing far from their best.

Los Blancos need a new centre-back to take the team forward, and they could use the January transfer window as the opportunity to strengthen the team and bring their season back on track.

Kalidou Koulibaly is among the best centre-backs in the world right now and could be the perfect signings for Real Madrid in January transfer window.

Koulibaly is a quick, tall and strong defender. He is comfortable with the ball at his feet and possesses an excellent passing range as well. He completed more than 235 passes this season, with an impressive accuracy rate of 88.1%. The Senegalese does not rush into tackles and always keeps his calm during crucial moments, which makes him difficult to beat in one on one situations.

#2 Sign a new striker

Real Madrid struggled to find the back of the net regularly this season and scored just 23 goals in 15 La Liga games. Karim Benzema is not at his best at the moment and Mariano Diaz is yet to score a league goal since his move from Lyon last summer.

Los Blancos is being linked with a number of strikers lately, with Harry Kane being the most noteworthy of all. The Tottenham Hotspur striker is among the best strikers in the world, and there is not even a fraction of doubt that he would be a massive upgrade from Real Madrid's current strikers.

The London-born striker won the Premier League Golden Shoe in two of the last three seasons and was going shoulder to shoulder with Mohamed Salah for last season's Golden Boot as well, but his injury during the final stages of the league saw him fall behind the Egyptian.

The 25-year-old attacker is in a terrific form this season as well and bagged nine goals in 16 Premier League games thus far.

However, luring him to Bernabeu might prove to be a difficult task for the Spanish Giants with Spurs currently demanding a fee in a region of £200 million to sell their superstar.

#1 Sign a Cristiano Ronaldo replacement

The departure of Cristiano Ronaldo was a big blow for Los Blancos, and the inability to replace their superstar made things even worse.

However, they could use the January transfer window to sign a replacement for their departed superstar and Chelsea's Eden Hazard is among the few names who could fill the void left by the Portuguese at the club.

The Belgium international is in scintillating form so far and could fill the void left the Ronaldo at the Bernabeu.

Hazard won two Premier League titles with the Blues and also helped his team win the Europa League during the 2012-13 season. He was Belgium's star performer at the FIFA World Cup 2018 and provided the most number of assists (two) during the tournament.

Eden Hazard revealed his desire to join Real Madrid in the past, and could finally move to the Bernabeu this winter, or in the summer.
