Marco Asensio got his breakthrough under Zinedine Zidane in the 2016/2017 season, playing a bit-part role in the club's La Liga and Champions League winning campaign. He, however, weighed in with some important goals along the way including in the UCL final triumph over Juventus.
His trajectory continued the next season, as he underlined his importance with two well-taken goals against Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup, but he expectedly failed to get much playing time as a result of the presence of Cristiano Ronaldo.
