#1 He is still just 24 years old
This is what takes the cake, isn't it? Having already played for the biggest club in the world and shared the midfield realms with some of the biggest names in world football, Kovacic looked like a mature customer during the World Cup.
Yet to peak and brimming with talent, it would be a terrible waste of time if Kovacic does extend his stay at Real Madrid. With Kroos, Modric, Isco and Casemiro operating at the top of their game, he won't make it into the starting XI in the foreseeable future.
And going by the way the young players have thrived under Pep Guardiola, Kovacic should pack up and head for Etihad straightaway. He has a long and great career ahead of him which will be fully realized only with adequate time on the field. And at Manchester City, he will get exactly that.
