2. United have found their midfield solution
It may have taken quite some time, maybe even longer than expected, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has found the template the can work in United's midfield without their want-away talisman Paul Pogba.
Fred and Scott McTominay formed part of United's best midfield partnership and that has seen the likes of Nemanja Matic and Andreas Perreira frozen out from the starting lineup more frequently. The midfield duo of the Brazilian and the Scotsman has also changed the perspective of United fans fears that talk of Pogba leaving the club is no longer frightening.
Fred, playing in his first Manchester Derby, excelled in midfield against a ponderous City team and it was clear to see why United outbid their rivals in his signature. He was composed in possession and combative out of it. This was the Brazilian's ninth straight appearance in the league and that run seems to have done wonders for him.
If United can keep McTominay and Fred free from injury then they may have found the antidote to Pogba's probable departure.
