#3 Ashley Young rolling back the years and Luke Shaw defending creditably
United’s fullbacks have also performed very well in the last one month and played their part in the team’s resurgence. Ashley Young continues to be one of the most consistent players for United at the age of 33. He has played in more than 230 matches for the club, but still remains a world-class performer for them. He played exceedingly well to stop Eden Hazard in the match against Chelsea.
Luke Shaw, on the other hand, has cemented his place in United’s starting line-up this season and has really impressed with his defensive prowess. He defended creditably against the likes of Mohamed Salah, Pierre-Emerick Aubemyang, and Pedro Rodriguez, and did not allow either of them to score against United.
Both United’s full-backs are very comfortable going into overlaps and delivering crosses but curb their attacking instincts somewhat while playing against big teams. They have mostly stayed in their own half against the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Arsenal, adding solidity to their defence.
