Karim Benzema seems to be a man reborn this season. Displaying little after-effects of a difficult 2018-19 season, the Frenchman has burst off the blocks, leading the LaLiga scoring charts with 10 goals after 13 matchdays.

Benzema has also immensely benefitted from goals arriving from all over the field. 12 other Madrid players have contributed 18 Liga goals this season, which has eased the pressure on the striker. It has, in turn, liberated the Frenchman to do what he does best and that is to score goals for his team without any extra baggage.
Last season, despite scoring a club-high 21 Liga goals, Benzema appeared burdened with the added pressure of filling up the gaping hole in the Real attack, left behind by the departure of the club's record-goal scorer Cristiano Ronaldo.
After 13 matchdays in 2018-19, Madrid had scored 20 goals. Fast forward a year, and Los Blancos have already scored 28 goals this season. The difference in terms of results and position in the league are all too apparent.
