#1 Lack of quality Goal Scorers
After the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus, Madrid did not buy any proper replacement for him in the summer. The only striker they bought was Mariano Diaz who has not been able to fill in the shoes of Ronaldo. Ronaldo's departure is one of the main reasons why Madrid have not been able to win games.
The number of goals scored have dipped significantly and no one has been able to step up and score the goals that Ronaldo used to score for them. With Bale and Asensio being out of form and Isco being omitted from the first eleven continuously by Solari, the only forwards Madrid have are Karim Benzema, Vinicius Jr., and Lucas Vazquez. They have not been consistent enough to guarantee a goal or two in every game.
FACT: Only Benzema has scored goals in double digits (10), the second highest goalscorer for them is Ramos who is a defender.
As a result, Madrid have lost too many games and they are 3rd in the table behind Atletico Madrid and Barcelona. Madrid have only scored 41 goals compared to 61 scored by Barcelona. Their defense has been poor, midfield not in the best form and they are also missing a potent goal scorer.
The title race is surely over for Madrid and I think their biggest mistake was not replacing Ronaldo properly. They did not sign any high-class player to replace the Portuguese legend and are facing the consequences of it. Surely, the coach and the club president would try to bring in Neymar Jr. or Eden Hazard in the summer to get those goals and bring Madrid to top again.
