#2 Winning the Portuguese Player of the Year award 10 times
This week, Ronaldo won the Portuguese Player of the Year award for his exploits for club and country.
Whilst this achievement is significant in its own right, it also marked the tenth time that Ronaldo won the accolade, which is a record.
However, considering that the forward has unquestionably been Portugal's best player over the last ten years, the award wasn't much of a surprise.
More importantly though, the record shows how consistent Ronaldo has been over the last decade and has always remained at the pinnacle of the footballing world.
#1 Nominated for the FIFA Player of the Year Award for the 12th time (Shared)
This year, Lionel Messi, Ronaldo and Virgil van Dijk have been nominated for the FIFA Player of the Year Award.
While the Dutchman has been nominated for the first time, the releasing of the short-list marked the 12th time that Messi and Ronaldo have been nominated.
Though the record isn't an outright for Ronaldo, or Messi for that matter, it seems appropriate that they share the accomplishment as it is testament to the way they have dominated the footballing fraternity over the past decade and a bit.
As Ronaldo expressed recently, there has never been a rivalry like theirs in football and the world might never witness a rivalry of similar ilk in the future.
