The Frenchman has been in fine form for Lyon for the past few seasons and has scored 18 times from 33 appearances already this time. Manchester United were competing with Chelsea for Dembele’s signature in January, but a deal never materialised, even though on paper, the Frenchman was perfect for United.

At just 23 years old, Dembele was exactly the kind of player United had targeted under Solskjær. The Frenchman also had the experience of playing in England, joining Fulham at the age of 16 and making his debut for the club in the 2013/14 season. He went on to make 64 appearances for the Cottagers, scoring 19 goals, before joining Celtic in the summer of 2016. Dembele left the Hoops after scoring 51 times in 94 appearances and joined Lyon 2 seasons ago.
At the start of January this year, there were reports that United and Chelsea were in touch with Lyon, as both sides attempted to land Dembele. However, the Ligue 1 side were reluctant that they would not let their star player leave. Chelsea ultimately ended the month without any additions to the squad, while United also failed in their pursuit of Dembele.

Inspired by Diego Maradona, Deepungsu played as an attacking midfielder for his local club at subdivision level in his initial years and scored an important goal or two. However, his all-time favorite footballer is Lionel Messi, and evidently, he feels Argentina's glory in 2022 is his favorite FIFA World Cup moment for fulfilling his long-standing dream. He is also an ardent East Bengal fan.
Deepungsu has been a Manchester United supporter since the year 2000. Unsurprisingly, his favorite manager is Sir Alex Ferguson and the Scotsman helped him get through some of the toughest days of his life. Like the fiery Scot, Deepungsu also leaves no stone unturned when it comes to accuracy in articles and only relies on credible sources.
Despite believing in Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland to create an iconic rivalry, Deepungsu reckons no one can match the longevity of Messi and Ronaldo. He spends his leisure time writing about life on his blog, reading books, and playing the guitar.
