#2 Play Kovacic or Barkley in the number 10 position
Football is one sport that has evolved considerably over time and the role of the number 10 on the pitch has evolved right along with it. The number 10 has evolved from a central midfielder with a great passing range and dazzling dribbling to a deep-lying playmaker and now to an attacking midfielder with an eye for a killer pass.
More recently, teams have adapted their number 10 to be the principal man that presses the deep lying playmaker. Arsenal adapted this tactic in using Ramsey to nullify Jorginho in the PL meeting at the Emirates stadium. Kovacic or Barkley could be drafted in to do a job on Fernandinho in the City clash.
It seems pretty insane considering that City have far more gifted attacking threats than the Brazilian midfielder and perhaps those threats need to be addressed before Fernandinho is considered. However, the one indispensable cog to the City machine is Fernandinho and one will always have a better chance to win City if the Brazilian has a bad game.
The purpose of playing the ten will be solely to keep Fernandinho occupied. This has the double advantage of allowing Chelsea contest for the midfield with City and occupying Fernandinho with a player while letting the Chelsea wingers; Hazard and Willian do damage to the City defense.
