#1 Jose Mourinho and his side look directionless
Jose Mourinho knows better than anyone else what it's like to win a derby. Manchester United came into the game with the hope of closing the gap to the top four. But Chelsea's victory earlier in the day meant United started the game XI points behind the Champions League places.
The team selection was questionable as Paul Pogba along with Juan Mata were dropped from the starting line-up, with a back five put into place to stop Salah and Co. The lack of creativity was visible as United failed to get out of their box repeatedly, giving away cheap passes in the midfield.
Liverpool had almost thrice the number of attempts as United and had more possession of the ball. Strangely, it is possible that Mourinho would have no complaints with how his side performed today as they were outplayed by a much superior Jurgen Klopp side.
With nearly half of the season over, it would take something special for the Red Devils to play Champions League football next season. At the moment, they seem to haven no clue how to deal with strong opponents.
