Real Madrid have one foot in the UEFA Champions League after a 3-0 win at Juventus. The Old Lady had no answer to Los Blancos and were completely outplayed in all departments.
Cristiano Ronaldo's brace and Marcelo's goal helped the Spanish side secure a good advantage. Paulo Dybala's red card made things worse for Juve on a night they would want to forget quickly.
Here are 3 things that went wrong for Juventus vs Real Madrid:
#3 No plan for Ronaldo!
Cristiano Ronaldo loves scoring vs Juventus and it's something everyone is aware of. Just like in the Champions League finals last season, the Real Madrid star bagged a brace tonight.
It came as a surprise to all that Allegri did not have a plan of stopping him. It is something all clubs try to do when they come up vs Madrid but surprisingly, Juventus did not go in with one.
The simple thing Allegri could have done is put De Sciglio on Ronaldo and asked him to be the Portuguese's shadow of the night. That blunder cost them very badly and it's put them in a position where it's almost impossible for them to come back!
#2 Dyabolical performance
Paulo Dybala was easily the worst player on the pitch tonight. The Argentine was unable to put a few passes together, let alone shine in front of goal.
The 24-year-old was trying a lot on his own and was eventually failing to produce anything. He was booked towards the end of the first half for diving in the penalty box and things just got worse from him then on.
Just as Juventus went 2-0 down and thought things could not get worse, Dybala was sent off. He tried to control the ball and ended up kicking Carvajal's mid-rib and was giving the marching orders straight away by the referee.
#1 No end product
When you are playing against a team like Real Madrid for a place in the semi-finals, the key thing to do is convert half chances.
Juventus, however, ended up wasting most of the chances they got.
They had a total of 12 shots at goal today but only TWO of them were on target! Of the two, just one shot troubled Keylor Navas. The Costa Rican keeper had nothing else to do the whole game!
Higuain and Dybala were not able to get past the Real Madrid defence and they were not getting any help from the midfielders as well in the final third.
Allegri has to get to the drawing board and work on a way to get past the Madrid wall or else there is no chance of them making it to the semi-final.
