With so many international games over the last few years, the question is has any genuine quality player been over-looked? In that regard, here are is a list of three quality uncapped footballers.
#3 Gabriel Fernández Arenas alias Gabi (Spain)
The Atletico Madrid captain is one of the most talented modern footballers not to have gained full international recognition. Gabi has had an excellent career for both Atletico Madrid and Zaragoza.
A central defensive midfielder, Gabi plays in an extremely competitive position for the Spanish national team with players like Xabi Alonso, Sergio Busquets and Javi Martinez ahead in the pecking order down the years.
He is 34 now and still a regular for Atletico Madrid. He is a really intelligent footballer with an excellent work rate and is known for his tackling ability aswell as how he breaks down opposition attacks and dictates play with equal effectiveness. He is also capable of delivering through balls and distributing the ball at both long and short lengths.
#2 Aymeric Laporte
Recently signed by Manchester city for a whopping 57 million pounds, he is the most expensive uncapped footballer of all time.
But time is on his side as the former Athletic Bilbo centre-back is only 23, but still it's unusual for a player of his reputation to be uncapped.
France has exceptional depth in every position and centre-back is no different. They can call upon the considerable talents of Raphel Varane, Samuel Umtiti, Adil Rami, Laurent Koscielny, Kurt Zouma and Presnel Kimpembe, if Pep Guardiola can work his magic on him though, it will be surprising if he doesn't make his international debut in 2018.
#1 Marcos Alonso
Marcos Alonso is arguably the most exciting uncapped player in world football today. The strength and depth of the Spanish national team have been quite extraordinary in recent years.
Although his father and grandfather were capped by the Spanish national team, the 27-year-old Chelsea man is yet to win an international cap with Jordi Alba and Nacho Monreal preferred to him. He joined Chelsea from Fiorentina in 2016 and was a major factor in the Blues success in the EPL last season.
