#3 Duje Caleta-Car to Marseille (€19 million)
Croatians are in demand this summer and Ligue 1 side Marseille have bagged themselves an excellent young player in Duje Caleta-Car. The central defender represented his country as a starter against Iceland during their adventure to the World Cup final and has now made a €19 million move from RB Salzburg to become Marseille's first signing of the summer.
Signed on a five-year contract, Caleta-Car had greatly impressed last season as a first choice centre-back for RB Salzburg during their Europa League march to the semi-finals. It was in the semi-finals that Salzburg was defeated by Marseille and when he caught the eye of Marseille sporting director, Andoni Zubizarreta.
Composed on and off the ball, Caleta-Car is a modern ball-playing defender who provides assurances to his teammates and can dictate play from defence to midfield. He can also pick out wonderful long-range passes, opening defences or setting attackers through on goal. Standing at 1.91 meters, the Croatian is also a dominating presence in the air both defensively and offensively.
Caleta-Car is an impressive signing for Marseille who will compete in the Europa League next season on a suspended one-year ban following their fans behaviour in last seasons competition.
