34th Sikkim Governor's Gold Cup: Tata Football Academy win opener

The 34th edition of the prestigious All India Sikkim Governor’s Gold Cup Football Tournament kicked-off on the artificial turf ground of the Paljor Stadium in the state capital Gangtok yesterday with the Tata Football Academy winning 4-0 against the Sikkim FA XI.

The goalscorers for the Tata Football Academy were N. Sangij Kumar (9th minute), Manash Sarkar (33rd minute, 60th minute) and Udanta Singh (44th minute) with a yellow card handed out to TFA’s Jarmeet Singh in the 45th minute.

The 34th Sikkim Governor’s Gold Cup kicked-off yesterday at Gangtok’s Paljor Stadium amongst a big fan fare. The Chief Minister of Sikkim, Dr. Pawan Chamling, was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

After a beautiful cultural show, 2 banners viz. ( SAY NO TO DRUGS ) and ( SAY NO TO TOBACCO ) were launched by the Chief Guest. This was the part of Sikkim FA’s contribution to the general society as a whole and then the tournament officially kicked-off.

The final of the 34th Sikkim Governor’s Gold Cup will be played on Thursday, November 21.
