2. Mateo Kovacic
The Croatian hardly featured for Real Madrid after joining them from Inter Milan, and was desperately looking for more minutes on the pitch.
Kovacic came on mostly as a sub in Croatia's World Cup campaign, failing to dislodge the midfield trio of Modric, Rakitic and Brozovic. He then went AWOL for Real before sealing the much-needed move to England on loan.
Kovacic has begun life under Maurizio Sarri and the Italian believes his quality will give Chelsea an added dimension in Chelsea's star-studded midfield. Relatively fresh, he can finally make a mark for his new club and will be looking to feature heavily as Sarri's top choice once he regains full fitness.
The Croatian is a fine midfielder possessing an astute work ethic and also a wide passing range to provide the killer ball in the final third. But he will have to fend off competition by performing week in and week out to stay in the team.
