The Brazilian was made the most expensive signing in Barcelona's history and third most expensive player of all time when he completed a £140 million transfer to the Camp Nou from Liverpool in January 2018. And despite starring in his first half season with the Catalans, things got progressively worse in 2018/2019.
The 26-year-old found himself the subject of boos by the Barcelona crowd on numerous occasions and generally looked a shadow of the player he was in the Premier League.
If the club is to let him go, they would definitely want to recoup a large chunk of the money they spent to get him and this could then be channelled into their other pursuits.
