For too long than it is acceptable, Karim Benzema has spent a miserable time at Real Madrid. Every player goes through these kinds of spells, but watching Benzema, it is not easy to determine if this is a run that will ever end.
The French forward has been missing even sitters in front of the goal. In his 31 appearances in all competitions, he has managed to find the back of the net only 7 times this season and the 30-year-old has often been subject to the wrath of the Bernabeu faithful.
It appears only a matter of time before Los Blancos sign a player to replace the striker this summer. That being said, here is a list of 4 players who can take his place in the starting XI:
#4 Antoine Greizmann
Greizmann was on the cusp of joining Manchester United last summer, only to be denied by Atletico Madrid's transfer ban. The player decided to commit his future to the club and stay with them during their time of need and signed an extension.
However, his release clause is still at a low amount of close to £90 million. The forward has been in breath-taking form recently. He has bagged 23 goals and 11 assists so far this season, and is in no mood to stop.
He has long been linked to Barcelona this season, but it is difficult imagining Catalans signing yet another player at such a high price, considering their recent procurement of Dembele and Coutinho.
Real Madrid have also been linked with the player lately. The 27-year-old would bring the experience of playing in Spain along with him and will be a perfect replacement for Benzema alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.
#3 Mauro Icardi
Mauro Icardi is yet another Argentine forward who has been in astounding form this season. The 25-year-old is currently enjoying the form of his life at San Siro in 2018. This season, the Internazionale stiker has scored 22 goals for his team in mere 26 club appearances.
At his current scoring rate, the forward looks set to smash all his previous records with the club.
Icardi's rise to his best has attracted the attention of all of Europe's footballing elite. It is only March, and the likes of PSG, Chelsea, Manchester United and Real Madrid have been reported to be interested in the player.
Real's interest in the player is no secret at the moment. However, they would be facing much competition landing the player in the summer.
#2 Robert Lewandowski
Football fans need absolutely no introduction to the Bayern Munich striker, as he is everything a club requires of a striker.
The Polish international is in sublime form for the German Champions for yet another season running. The Bayern forward has scored 32 goals so far this season and has also cliched points for his side late on in games.
The 29-year-old is among the few players who haven't experienced any dip in their form for the German side. Wherever Lewandowski plays, it is certain that he will tear the defences apart with his insatiable hunger for goals
Los Blancos have long been linked to the striker in the recent seasons and their approach towards the player would be even serious this time around.
#1 Harry Kane
If there is one player, the Spanish Champions should pursue with all their might, it is Harry Kane.
The English striker has been in swashbuckling form for Tottenham Hotspur for the past few years. Had it not been for his injury, he would easily have been in contention for the European Golden Shoe this season.
Still, the 24-year-old has scored 35 goals in all competitions and is not expected to feature in the game for a couple of months. Unsurprisingly, he is on the radar of teams like PSG, Manchester City and Bayern ahead of this summer.
Real are yet another team to be heavily linked with the player. The player would bring his prolific goal scoring abilities with him to the Spanish capital but any move for the player is bound to burn a serious hole in Real Madrid's pocket.
